The Deepening, Waves Intensive is a deep dive into the fundamental teaching of the 5Rhythms® – how to surrender to the flow of our own energy through dance, enabling us to recover that vital spontaneity. When intensively pursued, this simple exploration rapidly brings us face to face with our inhibitions, our masks and other defences we have taken on.
The deeper practice includes simple ways for these to begin sliding away – a meditation that redresses imbalances in modern lifestyles. So while the dance is exhilarating and physically liberating, it also brings quiet to the mind and a profound sense of internal stillness within movement.
The residential setting has been chosen to bring together all the ingredients needed to facilitate this deepening: Time and space in a beautiful, peaceful location on the stunning Gower coast. A supportive community of committed dancers. Nourishing whole earth food. A highly experienced teacher. The perfect recipe.
The greatest gift of the 5Rhythms is that, when engaged with deeply and fully, it takes us on a journey of progressive expansion towards our full potential as creative, loving beings. Catalytic in nature, it works to free the body, open the heart, still the mind and awaken consciousness. Ultimately, this entirely physical practice is a spiritual experience.

5R Waves Teacher Training:
This workshop counts for 5 days Waves, and satisfies the requirements for the “5 day Waves Intensive” specified in the WTT prerequisites.
There are no formal prerequisites for this workshop, but it is recommended that you have attended at least a few drop-in classes with an accredited 5Rhythms Teacher beforehand. Related ecstatic dance practices such as Movement Medicine, Soul Motion and Open Floor are also helpful, as are other practices which bring focus to movement, attention and breath, such as yoga.
COVID-19: At present there are no special requirements in force – should the sitaution change, we will obviously comply with whatever regulations are brought in.
This workshop takes place in Wales where, to satisfy Welsh Government and venue requirements, we shall operate as a ‘Covid-secure private group’. In essence this means pre-workshop self-tests and, during the workshop, we behave as a large ‘bubble’. If you have any concerns/queries at all about the practicalities of this, please feel free to call Jon.
Middleton, Rhossili, Swansea SA3 1PL
The dance hall is light and spacious, with a natural wood floor.
This workshop is residential; you need to stay ‘onsite’ in the bunkhouse, or at the nearby campsite.
* Note re single supplements: If we are full, or nearly so, you will be guaranteed a twin room (share with no more than one other) and the bulk of your supplement refunded.
Rhossili Village Hall and Bunkhouse is run by Trustees for the benefit of the local community.
The ‘board and lodging’ cost includes three meals a day from Wednesday dinner through to Sunday lunch, plus healthy snacks, fruit and teas in between.
We are delighted to be working with Majic Times, who have many years’ experience providing healthy, nutritious and sustaining vegetarian/vegan food at conscious dance and other workshops.
Specific dietary requirements can almost always be catered for by prior arrangement, supported by discussion on arrival.

Rhossili is about 2 hours drive from Bristol, along the M4 to Swansea, then along the south side of the Gower Peninsula. The postcode for SatNavs is SA3 1PL, but on Google Maps it’s more precise if you search for ‘Rhossili Bunkhouse’.

The Car Park has space for around 10 vehicles (a couple more if they are all parked considerately).
There are direct trains from Bristol, Cardiff and London to Swansea. There it’s a 15 minute walk (or short hop on a local bus) from rail station to bus station, then an hour’s bus ride right to the door of the venue (make sure you get off at the Village Hall, don’t go all the way to Worm’s Head!) Alternatively, you can probably arrange for someone who’s driving to pick you up at Swansea 🙂

There are flights direct to Cardiff and Bristol airports from many European cities and even farther afield. (If you have to fly to one of the London airports, you might want to arrive in the UK a day or two before, or you will have very long day travelling!)
