“The Deepening – Residential Waves Intensive 2018”
We were trialling the venue, which has proved itself so fabulously that we are going ahead with the four-part programme that Bernadette originally envisioned:
Elemental Rhythms 2019
(April 25th–28th | June 20th–23rd | Sept 19th–22nd | Nov 14th–17th)
What Happened and What’s Next? (blog)
The Deepening, Waves Intensive is a deep dive into the primary teaching of the 5 Rhythms – how to surrender to the flow of our own energy through dance, enabling us to recover that vital spontaneity. When intensively pursued, this simple exploration rapidly brings us face to face with our inhibitions, our masks and other defences we have taken on.
The deeper practice includes simple ways for these to begin sliding away – a meditation that redresses imbalances in modern lifestyles. So while the dance is exhilarating and physically liberating, it also brings quiet to the mind and a profound sense of internal stillness within movement.
The residential setting has been chosen to bring together all the ingredients needed to facilitate this deepening: Time and space in a beautiful, peaceful location on the stunning Gower coast. A supportive community of committed dancers. Nourishing whole earth food by the celebrated Café Momo. A highly experienced teacher. The perfect recipe.
The greatest gift of the 5 Rhythms is that, when engaged with deeply and fully, it takes us on a journey of progressive expansion towards our full potential as creative, loving beings. Catalytic in nature, it works to free the body, open the heart, still the mind and awaken consciousness. Ultimately, this entirely physical practice is a spiritual experience.

Venue & Accommodation
The dance hall is light and spacious, with a natural wood floor.
This workshop is residential; we strongly encourage participants to stay ‘onsite’, ideally in the bunkhouse, otherwise within easy walking distance in the village:
- Shared accommodation: Comfortable and inexpensive accommodation is provided in the Bunkhouse (5* ‘Excellent’ on Google reviews). The bunkrooms are simply furnished, each room sleeping from 2 to 4 people, some single beds and some bunk beds. There are showers on each floor, and a lounge/dining room and kitchen on the ground floor.
- Single rooms: Depending on numbers, some rooms may be bookable for one, on payment of a single supplement.
- (Staying nearby: For those requiring greater comfort/privacy, there are several lovely cottages and a local B&B very close by – and if this is you, DO book early since, in this beautiful place, they will book up – links below)
For evening sessions and social time together, we also have use of a large cosy living room.
Rhossili Village Hall and Bunkhouse is run by Trustees for the benefit of the local community.
The ‘board and lodging’ cost includes three meals a day from Wednesday dinner through to Sunday breakfast, plus healthy snacks, fruit and teas in between. For most of this, we are absolutely delighted to be working with the celebrated Cafe Momo, who have many years’ experience providing healthy, nutritious and sustaining vegetarian/vegan food at conscious dance and other workshops. Specific dietary requirements can usually be catered for by prior arrangement. More information will be posted here nearer the time.
Rhossili about 2 hours drive from Bristol, along the M4 to Swansea, then along the south side of the Gower Peninsula. The postcode for SatNavs is SA3 1PL, but on Google Maps it’s more precise if you search for ‘Rhossili Bunkhouse’. [Google map in new tab]
The Car Park has space for around 10 vehicles (a couple more if they are all parked considerately).
Car shares actively encouraged for all sorts of reasons 🙂
There are direct trains from Bristol, Cardiff and London to Swansea. There it’s a 15 minute walk (or short hop on a local bus) from rail station to bus station, then an hour’s bus ride right to the door of the venue.
There are flights direct to Cardiff and Bristol airports from many European cities and even farther afield. (If you have to fly to one of the London airports, you might want to arrive in the UK a day or two before, or you will have very long day travelling!)
